By now we are sure you've heard - The 3rd Annual Festival of Trees 2011 is coming soon! The designer tree display will be in Southlake City Hall from November 7th - December 16th and these beautiful trees will be raffled off to the public so make sure and visit to pick out your favorites! Raffle ticket prices are: 1 for $10, 6 for $50 and 13 for $100. Please see the Festival of Trees website to purchase of raffle and Tinsel Gala tickets.
 

The Tinsel Gala will take place on Friday, November 18th at the Hilton Town Square 6:30-11:30 pm. A festive evening of elegant dining and dancing to Just In Tyme. Enjoy an unique silent auction, big board, wine pull and live auction. The event culminates with the City of Southlake tree lighting in Town Square event on Saturday, November 19th. All proceeds support local charities. Gala Tickets are $125 and can be purchased throught the Greater Southlake Women's Society website.

The Southlake Carroll Varsity Cheerleaders competed in the NCA National High School Cheerleading Championship at the Dallas Convention Center on January 8 - 9, 2011. This was the first year that the cheerleaders competed as a team and received 2nd place in the Large Advanced Varsity division along with the awards for Best Partner Stunts and Best Showmanship.

The cheerleaders are under the direction of Varsity sponsor, Laura Truebenbach and Coach Matt McGrath.

Greater Southlake Women's Society hosted the 2010 Festival of Trees events - whether you attended the Malouf's Fashion Show or the Grand Gala, it was weekend to remember. Local support of this event allows GSWS to give to ten local philanthropic organizations in the area.

Malouf's of Southlake previewed their 2010 Holiday Collection at the Festival of Trees Fashion Show Luncheon on November 19, 2010. For the second time in school history, the Carroll Jazz Band performed at the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival in New York. The band was one of 15 schools from across the country invited to this year's Essentially Ellington event, May 7-10 at the Lincoln Center in Manhattan.

The annual festival is an education endeavor geared toward high school students who have a passion and talent for jazz music. Accompanied by Jazz Band Director David Lown and Carroll Band Director Ron Behrends, 18 Carroll Jazz Band students attended workshops and participated in one-on-one sessions with famed jazz musician Wynton Marsalis. All schools were graded on a live performance and three bands were selected as winners.

Carroll's Stephen Falkenberg was awarded Outstanding Bass Sound, and the band's brass section was named Outstanding Section.

The fun began on Saturday, June 12th at the Marriott Solana as Metroport Meals on Wheels kicked off their annual golf tournament with a dinner and auction. On Monday, golfers gathered on both courses at Trophy Club Country Club to play for a great cause. This event is one of the largest golf tournaments in our area and raises funds for volunteers to continue their mission of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors."
