APEX Arts League Presents - Summers End Concert

08/21/2010 - 7:30pm

Apex Arts League along with the city of Southlake, Southlake Town Square and Fidelity will present its first “Summers End” concert on Aug. 21 featuring the lively, rockabilly musical sound of Jason D. Williams. The free concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Gazebo in Town Square.

Williams is known for his high-energy piano playing, which has wowed audiences across the country. He and his Memphis, Tennessee-based band perform more than 200 concerts a year throughout the United States.

His family-oriented shows appeal to people of all ages.

Williams recently taped an episode of the Disney Channel’s top-rated Hannah Montana Show, featuring Miley Cyrus and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. The episode, in the final season of Hannah Montana, is expected to air before the Southlake concert.

He has also been involved in several big screen movies, including “Great Balls of Fire,” the story of Jerry Lee Lewis. His TV appearances include Entertainment Tonight and MTV’s News at Night and VH1’s This is Country.

Dale Hansen, American sportscaster will MC. Students from Ohlook Performing Arts Center will provide pre-concert entertainment.

The “Summers End” concert is the first in what is expected to become an annual back-to-school event in Southlake. The concert is part of an ongoing effort by Apex, the city of Southlake and Southlake Town Square to bring top quality performing and visual arts to Southlake and to work toward establishing a Performing Arts Center here in the future.

Four-year-old Apex Arts League sponsors a variety of arts programs in the local area, including performances by the Fort Worth Symphony and the U.S. Jazz Ambassadors.
