Students and Parents Against Risks to our Kids

Carroll Senior High School Auditorium - 7pm - 9pm

On September 16, 2008, the City of Southlake’s S.P.A.R.K. Committee in conjunction with Carroll ISD is hosting the KIDS & THE INTERNET Seminar to educate parents about the dangers to our families posed by Internet explicit content and online predators. This free, 2-hour event will then equip parents to effectively protect and parent children in the Internet
Age.

The Seminar will cover:

• How explicit content is marketed to kids.
• How predators seduce children online.
• How to inspect your PC for explicit content and software that kids use to get it.
• Portable explicit content and game systems.
• How to set boundaries for children, and keep them on your side.
• Legal and financial threats to the family due to online behavior.
• Tools to protect the family and monitor online activities.
• What to do if you find involvement with explicit content or predators.

Special Presentation: The Game That Kills.......THE CHOKING GAME.
Presented by Southlake Police Officer, Roderick Page.

Heroes Parade

Heroes Parade in Southlake Town Square honoring those who have served in our country.

The route begins at Barnes & Noble and travels along Grand Avenue ending on Fountain Place in front of the Gazebo. Come early and show your support!

This event will kick off the 3 Day - Southlake Independence Weekend

The Independence Fund, a not-for-profit corporation, presents the inaugural "Southlake Independence Weekend" in support of severely wounded veterans and their families. Proceeds of the event go to help America's injured veterans to lead more independent lives.

OUES Reception to Welcome New Principal

The Old Union Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has planned a special welcome reception for new principal Mary Johnston. This event is scheduled to take place Tuesday, August 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the OUES cafeteria.

The OUES PTO encourages each family to bring their favorite dessert or sweets and "Dive Into Old Union And Meet Mrs. Johnston." Parents are asked to bring enough for their family and some to share. The PTO will provide beverages.
