Inspired by her fascination with and knowledge of severe weather, Kristine Kahanek recognized that children's natural fear of extreme weather is often alleviated with a simple explanation. A Mother, an acclaimed TV meteorologist for 20 years and the first female chief meteorologist in Texas, Kristine now embraces entrepreneurship and combines her passion and experience to create something for parents, teachers, and children to better understand and appreciate the weather.
She is touring schools and events across the country with the goal of encouraging children to study science, and championing family literacy and weather safety. Recently, Kristine was invited to be one of six children's book authors to promote family literacy and read her Katie and the Magic Umbrella books and DVD at the Kids Vision Fest at the Dallas Public Library with Former First Lady Laura Bush.
Please check Kristine's web site or OurGreatCity.com to see when and where she will be speaking, reading or appearing in your area. On February 21, from 2-5 p.m., she will be doing a storytime reading and signing for her newest book Katie and the Magic Umbrella: On Snowflake Trail at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Southlake Town Square. Kristine and her husband Jim have two children and love living and working in the Grapevine-Southlake-Colleyville area.
Drawing upon decades of other people’s experience, Identity Theft has studied the ancient secrets of partying and created a show that fuses together the best songs from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today, including last weeks number 1 hits. Comprised of five professional musicians who only take themselves as serious as absolutely necessary, Identity Theft skillfully recreates the music that keeps the party going and engages the crowd like old friends gathered for a night to remember.
