It's CEF Week at Carroll ISD

CEF WEEK, September 20 through the 24, has arrived and members of Carroll Education Foundation’s Board of Directors are thrilled to see their first annual PR campaign take shape within the schools. CEF has launched this campaign within the CISD schools in order to build awareness and promote all of the good works CEF has done and wants to continue doing for CISD.

This week CISD will recognize Carroll Education Foundation. CEF provides teachers' grants and scholarships for graduating seniors. To date, CEF has given more than $850,000 dollars to CISD and has plans to give much more.

As parents drop off their students at the schools on Monday, they will be greeted with CEF signs in the turn-around drop off lanes that advertise CEF’s annual fundraiser. The week will kick-off with themed dress days in the elementary schools. Students are asked to dress the part:

Monday: Silly Sock Day! Wear your silly socks to celebrate CEF!

Tuesday: Silly Hair Day! Style your hair in a silly way to celebrate CEF!

Wednesday: Green Day! Wear green today to celebrate CEF!

Thursday: Mis-match Day! Wear fun patterns and silly mis-matches to celebrate CEF!

Friday: Hat Day/Dragon Day! Wear a fun hat and your Dragon gear to celebrate CEF!

Elementary school students will also come home each day of CEF Week with a different sticker on their shirts giving a unique CEF fact. CEF hopes to educate parents on what they do.

During CEF Week, all teachers who have received a grant from CEF will be wearing their special CEF Recipient T-shirts provided to them by CEF. The t-shirts say "I'm a CEF Grant Recipient" on the front. On the back they say "and you could be one too!" This is to encourage other teachers to apply for a CEF grant. CEF gave more than $46,000 in teachers' grants last year and they want to give even more this year.

All past CEF grant recipients will receive plaques during CEF week to put up outside their door (and leave there permanently) which will give their name, state that they are a CEF Grant Recipient, and will list the years in which they have received a CEF grant. CEF is doing this in hopes that the parents will also recognize those teachers who have applied and encourage others to do the same.

Another feature of CEF week will be a special flyer that will go home with all the kids sometime during the week. This flyer will promote the annual fundraiser, The Culinary Celebration. The Culinary Celebration will feature 28 area chefs and restaurants, a live and silent auction, the band Railhead, a wine pull, a jewelry pull and much more. The event will take place on Sunday, October 3 from 6-10 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency DFW in the main ballroom.

Tickets to the Culinary Celebration are available in all of the schools and at the CISD Administration Building. 10% of all tickets sold at the schools will go back to the PTO of that school. Tickets to the Culinary Celebration are $100 each or $150 per couple.

Culinary Celebration 2009 raised more than $200,000, all of which was used to provide numerous teacher grants and student scholarships benefiting the children of the Carroll Independent School District. We hope you will join our mission of Excellence in Education and attend the Culinary Celebration 2010. Get your tickets now and join us for this amazing event! Individual tickets are $100 and couples are $150.

Tickets are available online at www.southlakecef.org.
