Miss Texas Pageant - July 3, 2009 at UTA's Texas Hall

The new Miss Texas 2009 will be crowned Friday night, July 3, 2009 during the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant which, for the first time in the past 46 years, will be held in Arlington at Texas Hall of the campus of The University of Texas at Arlington. Previously, the pagenats have been held at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth. The Miss Teen Texas Scholarship Pageant also runs throughout the week at Texas Hall.

The pageant preliminaries begin Monday, June 29th at 7pm ($30 per ticket) and continue on Tuesday ($35) and Wednesday ($35) nights, also at 7pm. Tickets may be purchased at the box office at Texas Hall one hour prior to the event. Or you can purchase tickets ahead of time from Central Ticket Office by calling 800-492-7979.

There are 71 contestants vying for the crowns of Miss Texas and Miss Teen Texas.

Representing the city of Southlake in the Miss Texas Pageant is Miss Brittany Wellsfry, a 23-year old graduate of Southern Methodist University. Brittany's talent is vocal and her platform is E.T.H.I.C.S. - Changing Lives By Building Character.

Representing the city of Southlake in the Miss Teen Texas Pageant is Miss Amy Cristiani, who attends Midland High School in Midland, Texas. Amy's talent is piano and vocal and her platform is The Beauty of Reading.

The winner of Miss Texas 2009 will compete for the title of Miss America 2010 in January in Las Vegas. The winner of Miss Teen Texas 2009 will compete in the national finals, Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando in August.
