Skipping Stone Studio is a full-service photography studio located in Southlake, TX specializing in fine portraiture. Offering internationally viewed commercial business photography and event coverage as well as multi-faceted studio and location sessions for families, children, high school seniors, pets, executive headshots and model portfolios; Skipping Stone Studio encompasses all aspects of the “Art of Photography.” “I enjoy capturing moments of people’s lives for them,” owner Charles Brabham says, “and giving them something they will cherish for decades to come.”

Charles’s interest in photography began in the Highland Park Methodist Church darkroom where he spent much of his spare time in junior high. He went on to pursue photography and business in college, and later taught a class on darkroom production at a local junior college. After moving to the Southlake area in 2001, he created Skipping Stone Studio which has expanded from a one-room office into a 3,000 square foot location while still maintaining the welcoming atmosphere that so many have come to associate with Skipping Stone Studio.

The staff consists of eight members; seven people who will create a personal and artistic experience for each guest, and the eighth member, Mercedes, a 2 ½ -year-old Snorkie (a mix of Schnauzer and Yorkie) who is sure to brighten everyone’s day. “She really runs the show,” Charles says with a smile.

At Skipping Stone Studio, the dedication to providing quality portraits extends beyond the artistic merit of each photograph. “I believe portraits are the most important photos of all,” says studio photographer Pamela Peck, “A great picture of a loved one is irreplaceable. My favorite photos are not just ones I’ve even taken, but old portraits of my grandparents as children and my parents on their wedding day.“ The close-knit staff is committed to provide a standard of excellence and customer satisfaction through the in-depth sessions at Skipping Stone as well as with a new sister location, Ripples Photography Studio, opening soon in 280 Sports, the premier sports complex of Southlake .

Ripples Photography Studio is designed to fit a fast-paced lifestyle, providing creative portraits and package selection all in one 30 minute session. This studio will offer a variety of backgrounds including a green screen and a revolutionary Cinemagic System, which can quickly transport the subject into a variety of locations all in the comfort of the studio walls. Background sets are re-created on a two-week basis, guaranteeing a unique and limited-time experience each time.

At Skipping Stone Studio and Ripples Photography Studio, the “Art of Photography” is created and redefined on a daily basis. “Sometimes it feels as if life can change so quickly,” Charles says, “and at Skipping Stone we are honored to be invited to be a part of it. We have taken pictures of newborns and will someday create their senior portraits as well. Portrait photography is such an intimate art form. Each person who steps into the studio becomes part of the Skipping Stone family, and we become part of theirs.”
