Star Parties with the Fort Worth Astronomical Society
Bob Jones Park Amphitheater
Saturday, June 7 – 9:00-11:000pm
Come to the Star Parties! Join the Bob Jones Nature Center and the Fort Worth Astronomical Society for Family Star Party Nights.
Visit the Bob Jones Nature Center and enjoy a family night out under the stars as members of the Fort Worth Astronomical Society set up their telescopes, big and small, for your enjoyment and share their knowledge of the summer night sky. June will be a wonderful time to see Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Using the bigger scopes, Uranus and Neptune may be seen. Two sights that are some of the most beautiful in the summer skies are the Ring Nebulae, a giant ring of star debris, and Messier Object 13 (M13), a large globular cluster filled with thousands of stars. Double stars like Mizar in the Big Dipper are beautiful viewing object in the smaller scopes.
Bring the whole family, lawn chairs, water and insect spray and enjoy the astronomy of the Southlake evening sky. Be prepared to turnoff your vehicles headlights as you enter and leave the viewing area. Signs will direct you to the correct parking area.
