Our Great City
Meet the Weisgarber Family!
There is an old toast, "May your friends be like family and your family be like friends."
Before the Weisgarber’s moved to Southlake 11 years ago, they could never imagine how much family they would come to have. When they arrived in Southlake from New Jersey during the summer of 1999, Angela was pregnant with their youngest child, Maggie. They were warmly welcomed by the Texas heat – and by a wonderful group of neighbors. Over the following weeks, months and years they have met many people who were destined to be their friends for life. They celebrate most holidays together and have established their own traditions. Almost all of them have gone through 40th birthdays together (OK, some 50's too!), and they drag each other to various charity events and squeeze in couple happy hours together! Then, if you add in the friends the kids have introduced them to through school and their extra activities you could say the Weisgarber’s cup runs over!
In the fall of 1999, Angela found herself with four children under the age of four. New to Texas, she discovered a fantastic program offered by White’s Chapel Preschool called "Mommy’s Day Out", which gave her time during the day to get involved in the community. Since then, she has participated in many wonderful charities and organizations, which in turn has showed her family the satisfaction that comes from giving back and helping others in need. Angela is on the executive boards of Kids Matter International and the ProPlayers Foundation. Both organizations have a strong volunteer base in the DFW area and are DEDICATED to helping children who otherwise would not get help. The ProPlayers Golf Tournament is June7th and benefits Bryce Saldi, please check out the website for more information. Angela has also been a long time volunteer for Summer Santa, Metroport Meals on Wheels, and the Greater Southlake Women's Society. She is also a member of the Timarron Country Club Social Committee, has been Old Union's PTO president and is looking forward to being the president of the Dawson Middle School PTSO, where her twins, Sandi and Bryan, are entering the seventh grade in the fall. In June, Angela will join Cantor Ferris Realtors so she can share her love of Southlake with people moving into our great city.
None of this would be possible without the unending support of her family. Angela’s husband, Patrick, makes frequent use of Southlake’s close proximity to DFW Airport in his role selling high technology test instrumentation. When he is home, he can generally be found at any number of our kids’ practices or school events, volunteering with the Boy Scouts, or on the golf course. Patrick also plays softball with a great bunch of over 35 year old men. Really, Patrick is an amazing Dad and loves to grill – BUT, don't get him started talking about the GRILL!
The Weisgarber’s four children, Justin, Sandi, Bryan and Maggie, have grown up in Carroll ISD. They all bleed Dragon Green and are at as many Dragon games as family time will allow. Justin will be a high school freshman next year, and when he is not on the football field, he is usually on the basketball court or at the golf course. He is currently training with Higher Goals in Grapevine and is either playing basketball games or practicing most weekends. Bryan loves football, as well, and just earned his First Class rank in Boy Scouts. He will be traveling to Colorado for camp this summer with Troop 168 in Southlake. Sandi has developed a love of volleyball and is a typical tween – hanging out with all her BFF's. Maggie is our newest golfer and is enjoying the sport with her Dad and the lessons she takes from Scott at Timarron.
Angela has been asked many times, "How do you know so many people in Southlake?", and she always tells people the same thing: “Get involved!” Join any number of the great organizations, clubs or churches in the area. And when you throw in a Bunco, Happy Hour or Poker Game or two... so much the better!
Please check out the ProPlayer Foundation web site www.proplayersfoundation.com for more information on how you can help Bryce Saldi and the Kids Matter Web site www.kidsmatterinternational.org to see how you can get involved.
So when you see the Weisgarber's out at one of their many activities and events in Southlake, be sure to say Hi to our "Family of the Month" and tell them you read about them on OurGreatCity.com!
